Kaniwa is also called baby quinoa. It has a crunchy texture and a dark red color. Compared to quinoa, kaniwa is much smaller and does not have saponins, which are natural protective coatings.

Rinse with cold water in a very thin strainer (optional because grain is prewashed). Cook 1 cup kaniwa in 2 cups of water. Bring to a boil, reduce heat and simmer uncovered for 15 minutes.
Should I rinse the kaniwa?
Unlike the quinoa, kaniwa has no saponin. The GoGo Quinoa kaniwa is also prewashed so you can use it without rinsing. If you would like to wash it, make sure you have a sifter with very small holes because the kaniwa grains are very tiny.
